WD-40 required comprehensive support in understanding and adhering to environmental legislation across Europe. With operations spanning several countries, the company needed a partner to provide horizon scanning services, to keep them informed of legislative updates, particularly for packaging waste.
We were commissioned to assist WD-40 in navigating the complex landscape of global environmental regulations. Using our international compliance expertise, we conducted research and provided legislative updates, in report format, tailored to meet WD-40’s specific requirements.

- Comprehensive research: We conducted in-depth research covering 46 countries to identify and analyse relevant environmental regulations and packaging legislation
- Horizon scanning reports: We provided WD-40 with a full year of horizon scanning reports, including three comprehensive reports in 2023 and an ongoing fourth report. Our report-style formats presented complex data in a clear and accessible manner, replacing the previous Excel grid to make it easier for WD-40 to understand their environmental obligations
- Focus on European regulations: Recognising WD-40’s significant presence in Europe, we prioritised researching European Union regulations, including Plastic Taxes, and packaging waste obligations across EU member states
- Impact assessment: We conducted an impact assessment of European packaging legislation to help WD-40 understand and prepare for future regulatory changes
- Support with additional queries: Assisted WD-40 with queries related to other environmental regulations, such as hazardous substances restrictions (e.g., REACH legislation)
- EU Commission Updates: We ensured that WD-40 was informed of the latest updates from the European Commission, enabling them to stay ahead of regulatory changes at EU level
