The Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Regulations came into force in the UK in 2006 with the aim of restricting the use of certain substances in the manufacture of various types of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) in order to prevent damage to human health and the environment.
What Do You Need to Do?
There are several options available to ensure that you are compliant with RoHS including:
Producers can arrange for their products to be tested in order to assess levels of restricted substances. Undertaking regular product testing is the most comprehensive approach a company can take to demonstrate their compliance with these regulations.
Producers can request a Declaration of Conformity from the manufacturer or each product or component.
Recent changes to the RoHS Directive means that it has been brought into scope of the CE Marking Directive. This means all products that are required to be RoHS compliant should have the CE Mark on them.
You should use 'due diligence' to implement the most relevant compliance process.
