The European Commission aims to present a new and more ambitious circular economy strategy by the end of 2015, following the withdrawal of the previous circular economy package in December 2014. The strategy will comprise a revised legislative proposal on waste and a Communication setting out an action plan on the circular economy. The action plan will look to cover the whole economic value chain.
The Commission have released two consultations in order to support the compilation of this strategy. This includes a public consultation on the circular economy and a public consultation on the functioning of waste markets in the European Union. A summary of the public consultation on the circular can be found here. Valpak has prepared a response to this consultation which can be found here and the supporting document here.
