In both phase 1 and phase 2, members are categorised depending on the total sales
value of all electrical and electronic equipment (as obligated by the WEEE regulations)
in the appropriate 12 month data collection period. Each retailer will therefore
fall into one of the following bands:

costs - phase 2
Retailers wishing to join the DTS in phase 2 will be subject to the fee structure
outlined below. Membership of the DTS and payment of the associated fees will ensure
compliance with take back obligations from 1 January 2010 to 31 December 2012.
In the first instance, the fees for Band A members joining in Phase 2 will be
based on unit sales in the period 1 October 2008 to 30 September 2009.

Retention fees for members in band A in phase 2 detailed below. These are less than 20% of those charged for phase 1, and in many cases significantly lower than that. A further operational fee (14.75% of retention fees) will also be added.

The fees payable by retailers who sell in excess of £1.5m of EEE (and are therefore
categorised as being in 'band A') are proportional to the number of units sold in
the previous calendar year. The phase 1 fees for all retailers that are not
