This award will recognise the best reinvestment of PRN funds into the
reprocessing system to facilitate the removal of packaging from the waste
stream. This can include:
- increases in capacity and infrastructure
- enhancement of capacity
- product development
- price support
- partnership working with Local Authority

Best Partnership |

This award will recognise the most successful partnership between a diverse
range of organisations to deliver a recycling service, an investment, a
research project or change which has brought about more packaging to be
recycled. It can be a partnership between a reprocessor and a number of
Local Authorities, a market development programme which has brought together
the public, private and community sector or a multi partner project which
has shown a commitment to change, improvement and a desire to reduce the
duplication of effort and drive more packaging from the waste stream. This
can also include work done for the implementation of the WEEE regulations
and work with Local Authorities on CA sites, and possibly a retailer also.

Most Innovative Local Authority |

This award will recognise the Local Authority that has been most innovative
in a project, relating to the packaging or WEEE regulations. The successful
project can have been achieved by a variety of methods including kerbside
collections, bring banks and household / Civic Amenities waste sites.

This award will recognise the efforts of an individual in local government.
This could be a recycling officer, a member of a collection crew, a site
attendant or education officer. someone who through their individual effort
and drive has made a difference.

 |
This award will be presented to the individual, company or organisation
which has demonstrated a consistent and beneficial commitment to educating
and promoting the importance of recycling, whether at school, at work or
in the local community.

| Best Business to Business WEEE
Service |
 |
This award will recognise the most innovative and effective service for
providing collection services for B2B WEEE clients. As part of the WEEE
regulations, businesses who supply WEEE to business users should put in
place plans and operations to recover old WEEE. Entries should detail the
steps they have taken and highlight what makes the plans different; details
of partnerships, specialist equipment, unique service offers and customer
testimonials should be included where possible.

| Best WEEE Partnership |

This award will recognise partnerships between Local Authorities, producer
compliance schemes, the community sector, retailers, service providers (contractors
and AATFs) and others to deliver WEEE collection services. Entries should
consider training programmes, public awareness campaigns, treatment processes,
job creation, reuse and other benefits of the WEEE partnership.

| Best Resource
Management Project |

This award is to recognise the move towards resource management and the
carbon agenda. The private sector has been challenged to reduce its impact
on the environment and this award will recognise the efforts of Valpak members
in taking up the challenge. Entrants should detail the steps they went through
to assess their impact in the first instance, and then describe the policies
and actions they put in place to start to reduce their impact. The entry
should also detail successes and measured results of their actions.

| Young Persons Environmental
Innovation Award |
 |
This award is open to the next generation of recyclers and business people
who will take on the challenge of resource management. Valpak is looking
to identify young individuals who have shown innovation, commitment and
drive in the field of recycling and resource management. They may have designed
a new product, set up a new business venture or have outstanding ideas to
reduce, reuse and recycle waste materials.
