Valpak Awards 2008 - 27 February 2008
Valpak, the UK's largest compliance scheme, has just launched its 2008 Awards, building on the success of last year's event with an expanded list of awards categories. New categories to recognise excellence in the area of Waste Electronics (WEEE) and a Young Person's Award for Environmental Innovation have doubled the number of trophies up for grabs this year.
The awards are held to recognise excellence and innovation in recycling, waste minimisation and awareness over the past year, and entry is open to all Valpak members, reprocessors, local authorities and young business people under the age of 21. This year the awards evening will be preceded by a full day member's conference; a draft programme is available online now at www.valpak.co.uk
Valpak Chief Executive Steve Gough said 'Last year's event was a great success and we were approached by a number of people who encouraged us to add to the awards on offer this year. I am particularly pleased to see an award recognising the work of under-21s and the level of interest this and the other awards are already generating is very positive. I look forward to seeing more of the ideas and projects entered'.
The event will be held at the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich, an exciting venue set in beautiful parkland. The evening will be begin with a champagne reception in the lower deck of the museum, with a curator on hand to chat to guests about the exhibits. A three course dinner will then be held in the upper deck, under its dramatic glass ceiling, followed by our after-dinner speaker and the awards ceremony itself. Details on how to enter and how to book a table at the event can be found on the Valpak website www.valpak.co.uk
Confirmed sponsors to date are Wincanton, who we are pleased to welcome as our lead sponsor for the evening, Coca-Cola Enterprises Ltd and British Polythene Industries. For more information on sponsorship opportunities please contact fiona.russell@valpak.co.uk
