Carbon Policy & Standards

Currently carbon reporting is only regulated for large emitting organisations and, more recently through the Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC), for those companies with half hourly electricity meters and an annual electricity consumption of over 6,000 megawatt hours.

However, Defra are currently consulting on the introduction of mandatory greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reporting for companies. In France, mandatory carbon labelling is already being piloted (which will impact all imported products sold on the French market).

In addition to these regulatory requirements, a large number of organisations are voluntarily calculating, reducing and reporting their environmental credentials.
