  At the end of 2007, Valpak worked closely with Glasgow City Council to deliver a campaign to bring new recycling services to the attention of Glasgow householders. The campaign included leaflets, a schools poster competition and face to- face promotional activity, all supported by Valpak’s ‘WEEE recycle-more’ website.

• Recycling Services Case Study - Matalan

  In 2010, Valpak Recycling were awarded the contract to collect and manage all recycling materials from Matalan’s 100 stores based in the southern half of the UK and their 3 distribution centres. This contract involves over 450 bespoke collections per month from Matalan, collecting a total of 10,000 tonnes of cardboard and 1,500 tonnes of polythene film each year.

  Preston Markets have reported that working with Valpak has helped them to operate in a much more environmentally-friendly way. They have significantly reduced the amount of waste that they are sending to landfill and have also found our solution cost-effective and convenient. In addition, by working with the UK’s leading provider of producer responsibility and recycling solutions they have been able to demonstrate a strong commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).   Pleasure Beach, Blackpool has been a valued customer of Valpak Recycling (NW) Ltd since October 2007, when we successfully responded to their tender to provide a recycling solution for the collection and reprocessing of the cardboard generated from the world famous theme park.   Kepak Kirkham had previously worked with Valpak, of which Valpak Recycling is a wholly owned subsidiary, and felt it had received an excellent standard of service. Valpak Recycling was a trusted name and Kepak was therefore keen to look into what benefits Valpak Recycling could offer the company regarding its waste recycling obligations.   Already a member of Valpak’s Producer Responsibility Compliance Scheme, Direct Wines approached Valpak to assist in taking their recycling programme to the next level. Direct Wines asked Valpak to provide a total waste management service.   As a large company operating at a number of sites in the UK, Schneider found it impractical to meet their packaging waste obligation through their own recycling efforts.   In response to the WEEE Regulations, Bruker BioSpin joined the Valpak Producer Compliance Scheme. It is working with its local waste collector to create an effective reporting system, which will allow it to report to Valpak its level of recycling.   In order to fulfil their WEEE obligations, Inter Tel company is planning to offer a take back service from its dealers for old kit. End-of-life products can be sent to one, or possibly both, of the company’s main bases which are located in the Midlands.
