Business to Business EEE Producers

Producers of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) intended for business use (e.g. commercial, industrial or professional purposes) are required to pay for the collection, treatment, recovery and environmentally sound disposal of:

          and

  • historic WEEE (which does not display 'the crossed-out wheeled bin symbol') where the new EEE will be replacing historic WEEE that is of equivalent type or fulfils the same function

Historic WEEE

Producers replacing historic WEEE with new EEE must offer to take the historic WEEE away for treatment, recycling and environmentally sound disposal. The cost will lie with the producer of the new replacement EEE, providing the historic WEEE is of equivalent type or fulfils the same function as the new EEE. Alternatively, B2B producers replacing historic WEEE can put other arrangements in place, such as making the customer responsible for the recycling of their WEEE.

Historic WEEE that is not being replaced must be treated, recycled and disposed of in an environmentally sound manner, at the cost of the business end user. In this instance it is not the responsibility of the producer.

New WEEE

New WEEE must also be treated, recycled and disposed of in an environmentally sound manner, at the cost of the producer. However, B2B producers of new WEEE can put other arrangements in place, such as making the customer responsible for the recycling of their WEEE.

We can help with the treatment, recycling and environmentally sound disposal of B2B WEEE, so please contact us to find out how.
