If you are an obligated packaging producer or organisation that performs an activity on packaging, you need to pay a share towards the costs of recycling packaging waste. Once your obligation has been calculated, you need to demonstrate that your organisation has paid for the recovery and recycling of the required amount of packaging through the purchase of recycling evidence.
By joining a compliance scheme, like ours, you can outsource your obligation calculation and purchase of recycling evidence (Packaging Waste Recovery Notes), as well as receive help with your packaging data submission. A compliance scheme will also take on your legal obligation.
Obligated packaging producers must register with the relevant environment agency, each year, by the deadline of 15 April. Organisations that miss this deadline will not be able to register directly; therefore, they must do so via a packaging compliance scheme. They will also incur a late agency registration fee of £110. A packaging compliance scheme will register their members with the appropriate agencies.
You are required to provide yearly packaging data (this should be your previous year's data) to the relevant environment agency, or to your compliance scheme, via a packaging data submission form.
Data submission through us can be done either online, via our dedicated Members' Area, or via a paper form. We also offer a multi-submission option, which makes it easy for organisations with a large number of sites to submit each site's data separately.
Alternatively, you could outsource your entire packaging data submission process to us. Find out more about our Data Management Services.
