• Who is affected by the Packaging Waste Regulations?

  Your organisation is affected by the Packaging Waste Regulations if it handles more than 50 tonnes of packaging each year and has a company or group turnover that exceeds £2 million. Visit our 'Who is Affected' web page to find our  more or call one of our technical advisors on 08450 682 572.

• What are the Consumer Information Obligations?

  Obligated packaging ‘sellers’ are required, by law, to provide recycling information to consumers. This requirement is otherwise known as the Consumer Information Obligation (CIO). Valpak offset our seller members’ CIOs, for FREE, via our consumer facing recycle-more website.

• Do I have to fulfil a Consumer Information Obligation?

  Obligated packaging sellers are affected by the Consumer Information Obligations. Access our 'Who is affected' web page to find out if your organisation is obligated.

• I am obligated. What information do I need to provide to consumers?

  As part of the Producer Responsibility Obligations (Packaging Waste) Regulations 2007, ‘sellers’ are required to provide the following information to their customers:

   

  • where packaging can be recycled
  • the customer's role in recycling
  • the meaning of labels on packaging
  • the relevant chapters on packaging in the National Waste Strategies

• How does Valpak recycle-more help me to meet my obligations?

  recycle-more.co.uk helps Valpak ‘seller’ Packaging Compliance scheme members to meet their Consumer Information Obligations (CIOs) for FREE. Run predominantly through a website, www.recycle-more.co.uk, it operates and hosts the UK's most comprehensive bank locator. This extremely successful feature allows consumers, throughout the UK, to find their nearest recycling sites for packaging waste, waste electronics and waste batteries. Our website also provide consumers with tips and information on how, where and what to recycle.

• Can I link to recycle-more from my website?

  Promotion of the recycle-more website is an easy, efficient and free way of communicating the recycling message to your customers. All Valpak members are welcome to link to the recycle-more website and may use the recycle-more logo. If you are not a Valpak member, and you would like to use the recycle-more logo on your materials please contact us to discuss your business requirements.

• How can I do more to get the recycling message out to my customers?

  This can be done by linking to www.recycle-more.co.uk from your company website. You could also display the recycle-more logo on packaging, point of sale information and on other printed materials such as catalogues and advertisements. Furthermore, you could refer recycling queries to the recycle-more team. • How do I obtain a copy of the recycle-more logo?

• How can I tell my customers where they can recycle?

  Why not direct your customers to the recycle-more recycling bank locator. This can be done by adding the recycle-more logo to your packaging, point of sale information and other printed materials or by linking to www.recycle-more.co.uk from your website.

• How do I keep up-to-date with recycle-more news?

  If you would like to receive up-to-date recycle-more news why not subscribe to our quarterly e-newsletter online.

• Does recycle-more have a mobile phone application?

  Yes we do. Valpak worked with T-Mobile and launched the first mobile recycling application, 'Recycle Guide', which allows users to find out what they can recycle as well as locate their nearest recycling points through their mobile phone. You can text RECYCLE to 80988, and you will receive a text message link to download the application if your mobile phone is compatible.

• I am a local authority. Where can I update my recycling site details?

  Valpak created the recycle-more bank locator to help local authorities and other recycling organisations to manage details of their recycling sites and kerbside information. If you already have access, please remember to regularly update your recycling sites by logging into recycle-more. Please contact us if you are interested in adding your recycling sites to our bank locator.

• Can recycle-more promote my recycling initiatives?

  The recycle-more team are keen to help promote our members’ recycling initiatives. We would love to hear about your recycling and waste awareness campaigns; therefore, please contact us to discuss how we can help.

• Can I advertise on recycle-more?

  Recycle-more is supported by Valpak Packaging Compliance Scheme members and members of the Distributor Take back scheme. Therefore, you cannot currently advertise on www.recycle-more.co.uk. However, if appropriate, we will link to organisations and provide some minimal information. This will be at Valpak’s discretion. Advertising may be possible in the future.

• Will recycle-more link to my website?

  We will only link to a website if it provides information that will enrich the content on our own website. We do not endorse third party websites.
