Andrew McCaffery - Director of Consulting

Andrew McCaffery
Andrew McCaffery

Andrew is the Director of Valpak Consulting. He has an MBA from Strathclyde Graduate Business School and a degree in Physics. He is also a fully trained Life Cycle Assessment practitioner. Andrew has over 25 years' consultancy experience in the environmental sector, and health and safety. He has been the project director for a number of large projects for clients such as DTI, DEFRA, WRAP, Scottish Enterprise and Danone.

Heather Thomson - Senior Consultant

Heather Thomson

Heather is Consulting Practice Manager and Senior Consultant for Valpak Consulting. She has a business degree, is a fully qualified Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) practitioner and has nearly 16 years’ experience working in Consultancy, Market Research and Marketing. She has project managed and successfully delivered a number of large programmes for clients such as Defra, DTI, Scottish Enterprise and the European Commission.

Kathy Illingworth - Consultant

Kathy Illingworth

Kathy is a Consultant and Project Manager within Valpak Consulting, with expertise in carbon footprinting, LCA, packaging and bioplastics. She has a first class Geography degree, an MSc in Integrated Environmental Management and is a fully qualified Life Cycle Assessment practitioner and expert WRATE and SimaPro user. Kathy has seven years’ experience working for Valpak and has successfully undertaken the role of Project Manager effectively and efficiently delivering programmes for Defra, WRAP, the Welsh Assembly Government and the packaging industry.

Hugh McCoach - Consultant

Dr Hugh McCoach has worked within Valpak Consulting for five years as Business Development Manger and Consultant. He has a Masters degree in Energy & Environmental Systems, an Honours degree in Civil Engineering and has recently completed a PhD in Knowledge Management and Communication in the UK Glass Recycling Industry. Hugh is a Chartered Wastes Manager (MCIWM) and has over 12 years' experience working in waste management and recycling consultancy. He has project managed and delivered a number of large projects for clients such as Defra, WRAP, Scottish Government and several local authorities.

Stella Consonni - Senior Researcher

Stella is a qualified lawyer who is a Senior Researcher within Valpak Consultancy, having attained a Masters in Law (LLM) in International Environmental Studies. After that she completed an MSc in Integrated Waste Management, becoming a member of the CIWM. She has also completed 'Renewable Energy' and ‘Environmental Monitoring, Modeling and Control’ courses both with the Open University. She is also a fully qualified Life Cycle Assessment practitioner.

Gordon Francey - Senior Researcher

Gordon Francey

Gordon is a Senior Researcher within Valpak Consulting. He has an MA in Economics, an MSc in Economic Management & Policy, is a Qualified Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) practitioner and is currently studying for an Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Strathclyde Business School. Since joining Valpak Consulting, he has undertaken various market research analysis, economic modelling and cost benefit analyses into a variety of environmental problems. This has included a wide variety of carbon projects and life cycle assessments, an analysis on the recovered plastic and paper market in China and an assessment of new packaging regulations with the Republic of Macedonia amongst others.

Carys White - Researcher

Carys has been a researcher for Valpak Consulting since January 2009. She has a BSc in Geography and has Qualified Teacher Status. Previous to her current role, she was a regulatory compliance account manager for several of Valpak’s members, calculating and submitting their annual packaging obligations under the UK’s Packaging Waste Regulations. Since moving to Valpak Consulting, Carys has carried out extensive project research for several of the consultancy’s clients, including WRAP, Defra, and RENEW. Carys is an IEMA Associate Environmental Auditor and qualified internal auditor for ISO 9001 and 14001 standards, carrying out the company’s internal audits against its Integrated Management System.

Sarah Mann - Researcher

Sarah joined Valpak Consulting a year ago as a Researcher having worked in Valpak Data Solutions for 2 years. She has successfully managed and submitted clients’ packaging waste obligations as well as waste electrical obligations. She has a BSc in Geography and since joining the Consulting team Sarah has undertaken an IEMA Environmental Auditing course and has worked on waste prevention reviews for WRAP, as well as conducting secondary and primary research for a variety of projects.

Paul Ndikom - Researcher

Paul Ndikom

Paul recently joined the Valpak Consulting team as a Researcher from Valpak Data Solutions, during which time he assisted in the management of several key accounts. He has a BA Hons in Business Economics, graduating in July 2010 and is still currently a member of the Nottingham Trent Economics Society. He has shown a keen interest for project work and has undertaken internal research in order to help benefit VDS by assessing bespoke programs.
